Ministries of St. Brendan's Family
to the Community

Outreach

Galley-The Galley is a hot, evening, meal provided at St. Brendan's every Thursday evening @ 6pm for anyone in Juneau needing a meal.

Glory Hole-Members of St. Brendan's family provide a meal once a month at the Glory Hole, weekly transport of food from Mi Casa Sunday Brunch, give financial support with a monthly designated offering, provide necessary items off their wish list twice a year, and have a member sit on the board of directors.

Johnson Youth Center-St. Brendan's provides a monthly Sunday service at JYC along with refreshments, provide gift bags throughout the year and supports the youth and the center’s projects in any way possible.

Pioneer Home-St. Brendan’s does a monthly project on the 4th Saturday of every month @ 1pm. Projects include socials, teas, craft projects and visiting. Throughout the year, St.  Brendan's assists the staff with various activities they have planned.

St. Brendan's Food Pantry-St. Brendan's provides an opportunity for anyone needing food in Juneau. All food in the pantry is donated by members of St. Brendan's family.

Tlingit & Haida Head Start- St. Brendan's provides space for Tlingit & Haida Head Start preschool in Adams Hall and supports families and students with Thanksgiving dinners, fruit baskets at Christmas, and boots, books, and hats and mittens throughout the year.

AWARE-St. Brendan’s has a year round project providing toiletries, towels, bedding, etc. that are badly needed at the AWARE shelter for women and children who have been subjected to domestic or sexual violence.

Bartlett House-St. Brendan’s family provides packaged snacks and food items, toiletries, magazines, puzzle books, and children books for people who are staying at Bartlett House during out-patient care or family members visiting loved ones in the hospital.

Christian Children Fund-St. Brendan’s supports 2 children through this organization and supports a child in Ethiopia while waiting for adoption.

At St. Brendan's

Book Club-Meets once a month to discuss a specific book they have chosen to read.

Building and Grounds-This group is responsible for beautification and maintenance of the facility and grounds. Most of the work is done in the spring and summer.

Education-Sunday School for all children and an Adult Forum is provided throughout the year. Vacation Bible School shared with Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran and Aldersgate Methodist Churches in the summer.

Fellowship -Here is an opportunity for members of St. Brendan's to organize parish fellowship activities on a regular basis for potlucks, receptions, picnics, and other functions.

Friday Night at the Movies-On a regular basis the youth of St. Brendan's meet at Fr. Bob's for a movie, pizza, and fellowship.

Men's Breakfast-The men of St. Brendan's meet the second and fourth Friday morning of each month for fellowship and breakfast.

Stewardship-Through the Stewardship Committee members of St. Brendan's have an opportunity to educate and encourage the congregation to invest in St. Brendan's through gifts of time, talent, and treasure.  There are also opportunities to serve on the Finance Committee, which develop the annual budget, and participate in fund-raising for special needs.

Worship-Choir, Altar Guild, Acolytes, Readers, Chalice Bearers, and Ushers provide opportunities for ministry at St. Brendan's.

Outreach-This committee explores and provides outreach opportunities for the family of St. Brendan's to participate in.
